2nd Chance
2nd Chance is a mystery suspense novel. It is the second installment in A Women’s Murder Club Thriller novel series. It is written by James Patterson and coauthored by Andrew Gross. James Patterson is a huge name in writing suspense, mystery, and crime thriller novels. A very good example of his literary work could be found in Blowback novel. Similarly, you can expect to have loads of entertainment listening to the audio version of his Along Came to a Spider (25th Anniversary Edition) title as well.
The audio narration of the 2nd Chance novel is done by Melissa Leo and Jeremy Piven. It was a weak performance as the narrator over-annunciated almost every word spoken. This is true for both the narrators involved here. The sensational killings that the listeners witnessed in the first chapter of the series appeared to be unrelated. The only thing common in those killed that rocked the entire San Francisco was the brutality. But when it comes to detective Lindsay Boxer, she sensed that there was some sort of a thread that linked those killings. She called in her friends who were part of the Women’s Murder Club so that they could help her in finding the truth in the matter.
The ladies in her team were Cindy Thomas, a reporter, Claire Washburn, a medical examiner, and Jill Bernhardt, an Assistant District Attorney. With all their help and support, Lindsay Boxer came to know that there was some link between the new and old killings. Every victim in the case was found to have a relative in a specific profession. It was a profession that sent a chill down my spine of Lindsay.
The story could have been good as a standalone novel or perhaps as the first chapter of the series. Being a second chapter of the series, you will find it disconnected from the first novel, especially if you are already done with that one.
