The Sisters is a mystery thriller novella. It is a prequel to The Cormac Reilly Series. The book is written by Dervla McTiernan. She is an Irish author of crime novels. The Murder Rule is one of her better books and so is her The Good Turn.
The audio narration of The Sisters novel is done by Aoife McMahon. It was an acceptable performance and you wouldn’t have anything major to complain about.
In this story, you will find the character of Carrie Ryan who was at the start of her professional career. The time when she had a hunch about an active investigation of a murder case then she knew that it could be her one big chance to prove herself as something useful and also to break into the boys club of the Dublin police force.
Carrie Ryan uncovered that special murder case through the case file which Aifric, her sister left on the kitchen counter. Her sister was a newly qualified barrister. Robert Collins was the one who was charged with the murder and that too of his girlfriend. All that happened after fighting in a pub. Every clue and evidence collected in that case pointed towards a guilty verdict.
But both the sisters continued with the investigation and came up with more evidence, which further complicated the case. Carrie throughout knew that she had crossed the line. Her career could have been over before it even started, especially if the detective sergeant doing the official investigation found out that she was messing with that murder case.
It was quite a short story and was missing some bit of action as well. The story was mostly fine but the ending was a bit abrupt.
