In this second chapter of the series, you will find the character of Roland up against three different, mysterious doorways which were somewhere on a deserted beach that was all along the Western Sea. Each one of those then entered into the life of a different person who was in New York.
There, Roland joined in forces with the insolent Eddie Dean and also with the brilliant, brave, and charming Odetta Holmes in an intense struggle against the otherworldly enemies and the underworld evil. They also in no time became close companions while forming a ka-tet, who would go on to assist him in his quest for saving in the Dark Tower.
Stephen King is truly a master in producing breathing, living, and most believable characters and he has proved it yet again in this chapter and The Dark Tower series. The quest in this one is one of the best of King where he communicated on a sincere, human level which will also be quite rich in its allegory and symbolism.
