Fahrenheit 451 is a suspenseful fiction classic. This is an internationally acclaimed novel by Ray Bradbury and it is considered a masterpiece in the literature of the 20th century. Bradbury was a renowned author and screenwriter from the USA. He wrote in a variety of genres that including science fiction, fantasy, mystery, horror, and realistic fiction. Something Wicked This Way Comes is one of his better books and so is his Dandelion Wine.
The book is narrated by Tim Robbins who is an Academy Award-winning actor. The performance of the narrator in this book met, rather exceeded the expectations of its listeners.
Guy Montag was living his life as a fireman. In his world, TV was known to rule all around while the books were nearing their extinction. That was the time when the firemen started the fires rather than putting them out. The task entrusted to him was to destroy the illegal commodities and the printed book along with the places where those were hidden. Guy Montag never questioned the demanded destruction that his actions produce. He used to return every day to his wife, Mildred, and his bland life. Soon he met Clarisse, an eccentric young woman from the neighborhood. She introduced him to a past where people were known for living without any fear. He started to hide books within his home and when his stealing was discovered then Montag had to run for his life.
The time when Mildred made a suicide attempt and Clarisse disappeared without a trace then Montag started to question everything which he knew. The story of Fahrenheit 451 is set in a bleak and dystopian setting. The audio version of the book won the Earphones Award as well. This is a must-read/listen-to book.
