The fifth installment in the series is awesome like always because Sarah J. Maas has given full attention to every part of the series. Aelin was just an assassin when the story started and she herself wasn’t very clear about her fate. Although she was skilled in the art of fighting and killing she didn’t expect any kind of greatness from herself. Then she was chosen for a tough task which she fulfilled within no time.
Fighting deadly criminals in the arena was not an easy task but that task proved that Aelin had the ability to fight the bad guys in bulk. Here it is a different game altogether which Elizabeth Evans narrates because Aelin has to save the entire kingdom and not only herself. She has emerged as a hero for the people of the land and they trust her and have faith in her abilities now.
If she stays and tries to fight for the people of the land then she will lose several precious things in the process. She has already lost many precious lives and her near and dear ones too, perhaps she is not ready to withstand any more tragedies. This is the risk that she has to take because without it there is no other way for anyone.
Queen of Shadows and A Court of Wings and Ruin were not the concluding chapters so there is a difference in pace between those two and this particular book. This book will provide you with all the answers that you have been waiting for in the series. Aelin is going to make the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of the people that she has started loving now.
