The 18th Abduction
The 18th Abduction is a mystery thriller written by James Patterson and coauthored by Maxine Paetro. It is the 18th chapter in A Women’s Murder Club Thriller. He has done incredible work not just in mystery thriller genres but also in romance and nonfiction. Along Came a Spider (25th Anniversary Edition) and The 8th Confession are two worthy novels from the author.
January LaVoy is the narrator of this book. The strong performance created a spark both in the story and the characters. For three colleagues, a splendid nice out together after class ended up unfortunately in a lethal torture session. They vanished without any trace and then a dead body turned up. With the safety of the entire school system in San Francisco at stake, Lindsay never felt more pressure than this ever before. As the police chief and the press pressurized for an arrest in that ‘school night’ case, Lindsay had no choice but to turn to Cindy Thomas. She was not only her best friend but also an investigative journalist. Lindsay and Cindy together took a completely new approach in that case and a few unexpected facts surfaced about the victims which left both of them stunned.
While Lindsay was busy with the investigation, Joe, her husband met a woman who claimed to have seen a deadly war criminal. The problem was that the criminal was long presumed to be dead. Soon that informant from Eastern Europe goes missing…
This novel is good but doesn’t sit well with the story of the Women’s Murder Club Thriller to which it belongs to. It could have been much better and less confusing for the listeners as a standalone thriller.
