Connor O’Dwyer is the man who likes to be the one who is well blended in his family and also in the area that he calls his home. He has good relations with everyone around him like his sister Branna and cousin Iona. They have been living together since their childhood in this same area and they like to work here. There is another one who is also in the family circle although she has no blood relation with anyone.
Her name is Meara and she is the best friend of Connor’s sister. The two act as tourist guides in the area as Connor is the one who is leading the way and Meara tells people how to ride a horse. The two work great together and they haven’t thought of forming a bond between themselves.
Connor has been in relations with many women in the area and all he wants is a hot relationship and nothing else. Suddenly a kiss perhaps an accidental one starts developing something between these two. Connor thinks that Meara is the first one who has entered his heart and he wants a permanent relationship with her.
The girl on the other hand does want to make this relationship of the serious type because she wants to be like a friend with the family, not a permanent member. Nora Roberts’ story is narrated by Alan Smyth now and this was the first time that the narrator was narrating Nora’s work. The quality of the narration was equal to Year One and Bed of Roses thus we can say that Alan has adjusted well to the theme and characters. The narrator knew how to tackle the climax.
