A big city cop named Nate Burke gets heartbroken because of the incident he had to witness during a struggle against the criminals of the town. His close friend dies in the incident and he is left with no choice except to leave the town forever. The streets of the city started haunting him because he was missing his dear friend and partner in the team.
Then the department provided him with an alternate option which he accepted at once. Becoming the Chief of Police in Alaskan town was the right thing for Nate because he didn’t want to become a part of more action in the city.
In the town named Lunacy, there was not a lot of hustle and bustle because of the heavy snow falling all the time. Meg was also there for Nate so his life become pleasant to some extent. After some time he felt that there was something seriously wrong in the town. A killer was operating silently in that cold weather and no one was able to catch him because the clues were constantly being covered by snow.
Nate knew that going into such a thing would make his life terrible but being the chief of police it was his duty to keep an eye on the entire area. Nora Roberts does not go for such stuff as a routine because all of us have witnessed Year One and Bed of Roses already. Going for such stories with a scenery that seems to be silent and dark all the time is a new effort by the author and Gary Littman’s voice has suited well with all of it.
