Stephanie Plum deals with supernatural stuff and she is not the kind who takes on abduction cases. Simple child abduction cases are handled by the local police and not bounty hunters like Stephanie. A seven year old girl named Annie and her mother Evelyn is nowhere to be seen and Steven who is the father of the girl has more than one thing to worry about. Evelyn and Steven signed a child custody bond together and it was secured by a mortgage that was taken on the house of Annie’s grandmother.
Now the mother and daughter have disappeared and Steven wants the money to save the old lady’s house. Stephanie Plum didn’t want to take the case but the house of the old lady was right next to the house of Stephanie’s parents and they wanted her to help the old lady. Janet Evanovich gives Stephanie a simple mission in the beginning and there is nothing like Going Rogue.
Later after the investigation, it is brought to light that Steven i.e the father of the young girl was messing around with the wrong kind of guys and the abduction could be the result of that thing. From here on we see Stephanie going serious in her duty as she gathers the rest of the team for the mission.
Don’t forget that Explosive Eighteen developed slowly just like this so Janet adopts such techniques here and there. The narrator of the novel Lorelei King is also familiar with such techniques so he had no difficulty in giving rise and fall to the voice at the exact time in the show. Steven is not the only one who is keeping secrets in this story and thus gets ready for surprises.
