Mostly at the prime age, women like to find a suitable husband for themselves. Lady Pandora is not created in that manner by the writer Lisa Kleypas. Pandora is a wild creature who wants to roam free in life and at the same time she wants to progress in the field of her business. It is not that she hasn’t found the perfect match for her during all these years but actually she is not interested in men when it comes to selecting between a husband and her business.
She thinks that marriage will slow her down and the husband would try to tame her which is not something that she likes in life. During a party, she meets Gabriel who is a hotshot himself and he has been the one who had relations with different women in the past but none was able to keep him attracted for a very long time.
Now he has his eyes set on Pandora who is not interested in him. Pandora never thought that she will accept a marriage proposal from such a man but she gets trapped in a scandal that makes her feel that she needs support. Mary Jane Wells does not narrate the love songs till this time because both characters seem to be in need of each other.
However, when Gabriel starts protecting Pandora from the dangers approaching her, she finally realizes that the man has a special place for her in his heart. Cold-Hearted Rake was also about a man who tried to keep his promises at the beginning and then he fell in love for the first time. Marrying Winterborne depicts the struggle for adjustment in life as the two characters come close to one another. So every novel by Lisa will have some tension between the two love birds.
