Alina and Mac had a good childhood until tragedy came to their doorstep and they lost their home. They were never told what happened to their parents; only thing the two sisters remember is that they were given to outsiders as no one in the town wanted to see them. For years Mac was kept away from her homeland and she just could not stop thinking about it because of the mysterious dreams that haunt her at night. Hearing about the death of Alina was tragic news to Mac after which she just packed her luggage and came back to the native land. Although she never found the killer but during the search she came face to face with serious mysteries about her family. Her family is not an ordinary one as they are destined to stop the veil coming to the land.
This time only one member remain in the form of Mac and the evil known as Sinsar Dubh has come back with full force. The girl must find the book of dark magic before the evil gets hold of the entire land. Karen Marie Moning writes strongly about some personal problems of the girl as well. Her relationship with her lover and then the newly established relation with the Unseelie King are good examples of the personal troubles which Natalie Ross and Phil Gigante have narrated. Story gets bigger at every step just like Darkfever and Kingdom of Shadow and Light still we can say that the story is more subjective as compared to these two. It is Mac we all care for and not the world which is also under threat because we know if she survives the world will also survive along with it.
