Garden of the Moon is the first part of The Mazalan Book of the Fallen Novel series. It is a science fiction fantasy. You could have understood about the genre if you are familiar with the works of Steven Erikson as its writer. He is a Canadian novelist and writes mostly on the science fiction and fantasy genre. He also had formal training received for an anthropologist and archaeologist. However, his main passion is writing where he gave us good novels like Memories of Ice and House of Chains.

The Malazan Empire is the one who seethes with excessive discontent now. They suffered a lot with the endless warfare and some unwanted infighting as well. There were some aggressive and fierce confrontations seen with Anomander Rake along with Tiste Adii. The imperial legions even yearn for some decent respite who were the ones long injured with the bloodshed all around. Yet, the rule of Empress Laseen stays absolute. It was well powered through her dead Claw assassins.
For Sergeant Whiskeyjack and Tattersail, the outcome of the Pale’s blockade should actually be the time to mourn the deaths of many. But Darujhistan holds back.
Gardens of the Moon has so many different characters and this makes this tale a long and complicated one. You might struggle to keep everything straight here. It demands you to stay focused and then only you could reach the essence of this novel.
