The love between humans and shapeshifters has been seen in many books before this. This book has one unique feeling i.e feeling of pity that a human girl shows for a shifter female. At night Gwen Miller who runs an inn in the town sees a boy killing a female shifter in a very bad way. The act was so vicious that Gwen decides to stand against it and she wants that the human boy should be punished for his doing. The boy belongs to an influential family so the father of the boy tries to put pressure on Gwen through different means.
Gwen however does not go back on her decision and shows her determination for the case. Seeing this another shifter named Zander Devlin comes to Gwen’s inn and he wants to protect her from the danger that is creeping around her. As Gwen is standing for Zander’s species so he wants to see her alive and protected. But this is just one reason for Zander’s being with Gwen.
Author Suzanne Wright tailors love from this stage of the story. Zander gets attracted towards this human female and after the case is solved he wants to keep her in his bed. Jill Redfield narrates the hot developing passion of love between these two.
The novel is completely out of this world and Fallen or Burn will not be able to compete with it. This is the first time a human stands for justice for a shifter and then remains firm on the decision. Gwen gets the love of her life in the form of a soulmate for herself in the end and surely she gets rewarded for her services.
