Ready Player One is a science fiction and fantasy novel. It is the first novel in Ready Player One novel series which is authored by Ernest Cline. He is an American slam poet, screenwriter, and science fiction novelist. He is the co-writer of the screenplay of the film adaption of his Ready Player One novel. Once you finish this novel then the next one in the series is Ready Player Two which will become your automatic choice to read. After that, you will also love his Armada novel.
The audio narration of this novel is done by Wil Wheaton. Wil is a good narrator but wasn’t able to deliver this time. His voice seemed to be flat for all the characters that he played in this one.
The novel is set in the future and the year 2044. That was the time when the real world was more of an ugly place to live.
Just like the majority of humanity. Wade Watts managed to escape from his forbidding surroundings. He did that by spending his stirring hours jacked right into the OASIS. It was more of a sprawling virtual utopia that let you be anything that you want to be. It was a kind of place where you could live and play. You could also fall in love with any of the available 10,000 plants there.
A lot of hype was created around this novel ahead of its release. It seemed to be a bit overrated and wasn’t right up there to all the hype which is created. The narration too was quite one-dimensional and it didn’t help the listeners at all.
