Ending a trilogy in the right way is quite a burden on the shoulders of an author because the expectations of the fans is always high. The start is also tough because at the beginning the author had to design the scenes and then the characters. In the concluding part, everything should come to an end in the right way or the impact of the entire series will get lost forever. No author wants a drastic end of the trilogy especially Mercedes Lackey who has produced gems like The White Gryphon and The Silver Gryphon for the world.
Vanyel is the Hearld-Mage which means that there are a lot of responsibilities on the shoulders of this one being. Along with his group, the herald has saved many lives and has brought peace to the land as well. The Kingdom of Valdemar considers him a hero and that’s why he is praised as a legend in this part of the world.
The enemy who came to invade the territory of Valdemar had powerful magic in its grasp and defeating him was not easy at all. Some think that the danger has disappeared but it is not the case still. Vanyel and his companion are still living a life full of dangers because if any one of them makes a mistake then the future of the entire kingdom will get altered once again.
The fate of the kingdom is still in their hands and they are living on the edge of a blade. Gregory St. John i.e the narrator of the story does not disturb the audience with pauses at any stage which makes the book a smooth run.
