Beyond is the first chapter in The Founding of Valdemar novel series. This science fiction and fantasy novel is written by Mercedes Lackey. She is an American author of fantasy novels. The majority of her novels are trilogies that are set and connected in the Velgarth world. The Lark and the Wren is one of her most considerable novels and so is The Fairy Godmother.
The audio narration of Beyond is done by Paul Woodson. The narration was not exceptional, but good. It wouldn’t disappoint you at all.
Duke Kordas within the Eastern Empire ruled over a small Duchy that focused mainly on horse breeding. Kordas father was antedating the day when the militant leaders and the exploitative of the Empire would not be happy to leave them all alone. He set out to group all the magicians with the hope of finding a definite way to escape and also protect the inhabitants of the Duchy from autocracy.
All of the signs and the indicators in the Empire were progressively dire. Under the command of the Emperor, the mages started to hitch the great power of the dark magic. This also included the Abyssal Planes’ powers, the binding of Elemental creatures, and the blood magic.
Then, one of the mages of the Duchy had a breakthrough. There was a definite way to place a particular Gate at a distance that was quite far from the Empire. It was so far that it might be unlikely for the Emperor to discover and follow them as they displaced everyone who agreed to leave.
The Beyond novel has a highly captivating story. You will experience a few twists and turns here and there which kept the plot moving and made it quite interesting as well.
