In times of danger and frustration, we are always looking for a place to run or hide. Tory was the poor girl who didn’t have these chances as she was trapped in a life that she didn’t want. Her father was a cruel man who used to beat her every day with a leather belt. The only person who was providing a soothing impact on Tory’s life was her neighbor Hope.
Hope was living in a big house quite close to Tory’s house and he was the one who made her feel that she was still a child and she can enjoy life according to her will. Whenever she was in Hope’s company she used to feel that she was really alive. Then the tragedy took over on the day when Hope was murdered and the killer was never caught. Tory was unable to comprehend the reason behind Hope’s murder but she wasn’t able to do anything in that regard.
Thus she made herself strong and started her life without that soft support that was given to her in the past by Hope. Years after the incident Tory came back to the town and she established a bond with Cade who was the elder brother of Hope. Cade was also the heir of the big state and the family still had grief at its core. Tory tries to talk to Cade about Hope once again because she thinks that his killer is still out there. However,
she wasn’t aware that the killer was quite close to her and he can pounce on her as well. Nora Roberts writing and Dean Robertson’s narration has taken it one step ahead of Bed of Roses and Identity. Don’t stop in midway when you start the story because if you leave it for another day then the impression of the expression will not be the same.
