Hadrian and Royce joined forces long ago when they left their previous professions and decided to do something new. The two were killing machines in the past and the work which they adopted, later on, was also naughty but it came with no bloodshed at least that was the better part of it. They stole from all around the globe without getting caught at any level and that made theme renowned thieves. But they are not the ordinary thieves who stole for the sake of money only.
The two accept missions after which they get paid by the one who has hired them. Following a proper code in the missions has made the two unique in the world of crimes and criminals. When Michael J. Sullivan starts this book the listeners are told that Hadrian and Royce have not performed anything big for a longtime.
They are looking for something big and challenging. Finally, they receive a call from a girl who wants them to fulfill a task for her. Royce is shocked when the girl tells him that they have to steal her. It is the kind of job which they have not performed in their professional career also Royce doubts the girl. Royce thinks that they should investigate the whole thing before accepting the task because such an act can damage their reputation.
The mission is not as serious as Heir of Novron and Rise of Empire at the first glance but later the things get really complicated. Royce has not worked so closely with a girl and to add more to his troubles this is the girl he doesn’t trust at all. Narrating the character of the girl was a problem for Tim Gerard Reynolds that was handled well later on.
