Previously the Riyria Chronicles had a strong bong between all the parts; this one is not like that at all. We don’t witness a continuation of the series here and this one is not even a novel rather it is a short story loaded with a lot of fun elements for the old fans. For the new fans there is nothing which will compel them to listen to the whole of the series in detail. It happens to be a separate story in which old characters take part once again.
Michael J. Sullivan talks about a jester’s treasure which sends Royce and Hadrian on a new mission. In order to get to the treasure they have to fight the cunningness of an evil dwarf who has several things under his sleeve. Getting to the treasure is no fun and it is said that whoever reaches it will get the last laugh because finding of the treasure will also assure the safety of the finder. Death is everywhere and don’t get fooled by the word jester attached to the story.
FREE: Professional Integrity (A Riyria Chronicles Tale) and Theft of Swords were long stories but not this one. The story will end before midnight for sure as Tim Gerard Reynolds narrates in quick speed. But the themes of the story and the personality of the extraordinary characters involved in the story will keep you awake the whole night.
The characters like the candle maker and ex-mercenary will make you think about their past and their current fate as well. So just open your mind to embrace another dramatic genius of Michael J. Sullivan.
