Jak was a cartography student. He always dreamed about locating the lost dragon gate and also exploring the distant worlds. Was it all about developing some sort of magical powers and then becoming a resourceful wizard? That doesn’t stand a chance.
Wizards were known to be cruel, waring at each other from the huge sky cities and keeping the majority of humanity as their slaves. Jak didn’t want to do anything with them.
But when he and his mother who was an archeologist unearthed the gate, they got the attention of the wizards which they always wanted to avoid. Even worse was that Jak also started to develop his magical powers…
Most of the things are pretty good with the novel which includes its characterization, story, and narration. One thing that bothered listeners a bit was the nonstop blame game happening between a couple of characters. That was very annoying with no use at all.
