From the beginning, Quiara Alegria Hudes was a girl who was blessed with a clever sight. She had the ability to analyze humans in a perfect manner. Through their talk and appearances, she was able to tell all about them. Actually, she wanted to be an artist since her childhood and she thought that it would not be a bad idea if she starts using her ability to analyze people to polish her passion.
She used to see her mother and other family members including her aunts dancing downstairs in the kitchen. She wanted to know their languages so that she can judge their personality and character. For this, she joined the fun and became a part of them.
It was a way of getting closer to them, here the author has also given us a suggestion that we cannot tell anything about a person unless we get closer to him or her and spend some time together. After a while, the real personality of the person starts appearing in front of us and we are able to judge his or her next move.
Through those old memories, the author was able to write books like In the Heights and In the Heights: Finding Home. It means that she was actually capturing every moment of her life right from her teenage. She wanted to write all about the anxieties, tensions, and other problems which the women of her house were facing. It does not mean that they were sad all the time rather despite all this, they were able to celebrate and dance together. This book is equally beneficial for teenagers and adults.
