Pride and Prejudice is a historical fiction classic by Jane Austen. It is a chapter out of Jane Austen’s Novels series. Austen was a highly recognized English novelist of the 18th century and was highly regarded for the six novels that she has written where one of them being Emma. Rosamund Pike was good with the narration of this book but struggled with her voice, particularly for the character of Mrs. Bennet which at some places was unbearable.
Pride and Prejudice is one of the most cherished and beloved literary works of Jane Austen. This classic was brought to life vividly by Rosamund Pike, the Academy Award-winning narrator who got fame with her excellent voice acting in Gone Girl. In her energetic and exciting performance of that amazing British classic, she was able to capture the signature wit and tone of Jane Austen. Her literary background, her attention to detail, and her performance in the feature film version of the novel in 2005 provided everyone with the ideal foundation. The same could be used to beautifully convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet along with her four sisters and then also the inimitable Mr. Darcy.
In the story of this book, the listeners would find the Bennet sisters trying hard to make their way in the repressive society of the 19th century. Jane Austen depicted the folly of judging by the very first few impressions and then experiencing falling in love. She was able to describe a world superbly which despite being a couple of centuries old resonates still with our concerns in the modern day.
This is simply a wonderful book and a classic that is worthy of being treasured.
