Norukai slavers were the worst enemies, Nicci and her friends ever faced in their life. Dealing with such a demonic force was not easy and they would have lost if some sacrifices would not have been made on time. The enemy is gone and it has taken away Nathan’s powers too which is not good news for the trio. Nicci, Bannon, and Nathan start a search for the lost powers and the quest goes bigger when it gets attached to the saving of the world thing.
Nicci wants to save the world from the approaching demons at every cost and in the process of doing so, she would be able to retrieve Nathan’s lost powers. Shroud of eternity holds the key to all the problems, the main problem is reaching it in one piece. There are mysteries and huge problems on the way which have made everything complex and difficult to deal with.
Terry Goodkind’s characters are always seen trapped between two different issues, we have seen it in Wizard’s First Rule and Stone of Tears where the characters had personal issues tangled with the main ones. Nicci looks worried about Nathan as he has lost his powers, at the same time there are some personal issues that she does not like to discuss with anybody.
Evil doers are on a rampage and they would just eat everyone up if they are not controlled properly at the right time. It’s Christina Traister who narrates all these modes of the story in this novel. Everything is done excellently thus a perfect state is achieved on all levels in this novel.
