Richard Rahl and Kahlan were working for the safety of the land in the past and it is these two warriors who put everything on the line for the kingdom D’Hara. They fought with every bone and energy present in their bodies against the evil which was plaguing their dear land. For the fight they first got the Sword of Truth which helped them to defeat the enemy. Now the land is finally free and the evil has left the land forever. It is good news everyone was waiting for as the people can now come in the open to celebrate. But all of this proved to be a smokescreen for D’Hara because when one evil left the land the other one was waiting on the next corner. The two warriors who have saved the land from the deadly magic have also made a mistake they cannot correct now.
They have freed the Chime which will engulf D’Hara and after that the rest of the world in the process. Only weapon which Richard was depending on was the Sword of Truth but it is of no match against the mighty evil which has risen this time. So the two first get surprised and tense, later the two decide that if they are going down than they will not go down without a fight. Terry Goodkind gives hope to his warriors and later he puts them in more trouble. The author made his main characters fight hard in Wizard’s First Rule and Stone of Tears too and this same pattern works all the time. Buck Schirner keeps the things going in well balanced way during the narration of this fifth part of the series.
