Stories about the war between mankind with monsters and aliens are quite common and many authors write about the thing. This is like a post-apocalyptic thing because the war is apparently over and the humans have used the deadliest weapon that they had in their possession against their enemy. The problem is that the enemy is not dead rather it is scared and it is looking to take over and the humans are out of resources now.
The dark forces fell on the human world and the American president finally used the option of the nuclear bomb. After that, there is total chaos on the land and there are a few humans who can be seen here and there in their normal shape. One of them is a Sister who is in possession of something strange that can change a lot in this destroyed world.
Then there is Josh who has survived the nuclear blast because he hid at the right time. The young lad is not alone rather he is being accompanied by Swan i.e a girl who has some special powers that can help in the healing process. She is going to the city with Josh so that they can start the healing process. The evil force knows that Swan is coming and it is ready to claim her life first of all.
Robert R. McCammon has drawn a detailed picture of the destroyed earth and this is the difference between this novel and The Hunter from the Woods and Mister Slaughter. The theme of this novel is global, although the author has talked about America mostly one can imagine the picture of the rest of the world. Tom Stechschulte has narrated something after quite a while now and it is good to see that the quality is still there.
