If anyone can draw a picture of strange worlds then it is Nora Roberts and she has proved it throughout her career. The Awakening and Nightwork are wonderful to listen to even after such a long period of time. The word selection and the impression that the stories convey is so true in appearance.
Again there are two worlds in the story, one is the human world where ordinary humans live and the second is the world of magick. Not everyone knows about both of these worlds but people like Breen have the luxury to travel between both worlds. In the past, she was just an ordinary school teacher in the human world and Marco still thinks of her in the same way but she has evolved now.
The leader of the Fey has trained Breen and now she is among the protectors of Talamh. She has brought Marco with her to this strange land where the creatures like dragons and mermaids exist. Everyone in this territory shows readiness to accept Marco but Breen’s grandfather is not in the mood to accept an ordinary human moreover the old man has the tendency of destroying the entire Talamh.
Barrie Kreinik has not used any kind of helping hand in the story which is a good effort by the narrator who has not been narrating such books to a great extent in the past. This is the start of the war and no one is going to stop Breen from taking the first step forward. It is her duty to save the land that has provided her home at a time when no one was ready to keep her.
