Mary Stewart is a real genius in setting a strong plot for any story. The author starts with the details so there is never a problem related to the understanding of the thing. Mary lays a strong foundation which is quite helpful for the new beginners who are listening to her stories for the first time. This second part of the series is again about King Arthur and the mysterious sword which is going to decide the fate of the land.
It is Merlin who has always been there for the king as he helped this young prince is taking his rightful place as the king of Britain. Not only the Merlin helped Arthur but he also kept an eye on the things developing around the young king. Merlin starts having dreams about the sword of Caliburn which has been hidden from the eyes of the common man for centuries.
In order to become the High King of Britain, Arthur must have that sword but it is not that easy at all. Even if a person finds the sword, he still has to prove himself worthy of having that mighty thing. If a person is not worthy then he would not be able to use or even lift the sword.
Derek Perkins has not brought a lot of variation in the voice while narrating the story but still it is an excellent performance by all means. The Crystal Cave and The Last Enchantment are full of magic too so don’t leave these awesome books aside. These books are enriching in history and magic at the same time. Though the story takes place in the real world there is a link with the enchanted world too.
