The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms is a science fiction and fantasy book. It is the first installment in The Inheritance Trilogy. The book is written by N. K. Jemisin. She is an American author of science fiction and fantasy novels. You will find a very diverse range of themes in her fiction books that include oppression and cultural conflict etc. The best book from the author is The Fifth Season. Moving on, The Stone Sky is another amazing novel that Jemisin has written.
The audio narration of this novel is done by Casaundra Freeman. This was a terrible performance and the narrator was awful with her pacing. Her pronunciation was quite weird as well and the overall tone sounded unnatural as well.
The story in this novel starts with Yeine Darr who was considered to be an outcast coming from the barbarian North. But, the time when her mother took her last breathe under some really weird circumstances the show was summoned to the majestic Sky city. To her astonishment there, she was named as the heiress to the king. However, the Hundred Thousand Kingdom’s throne is not an easy one to be won. Still, she was thrust into a vicious power struggle with the cousins about whom she never had any idea. Just as she continued to fight for her life, she drew quite close to all of the secrets which were related to the mysterious death of her mother. A lot of things were about to be revealed about the bloody history of her family.
The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms is a very decent series with an intriguing storyline. However, the major disappointment was the poor narration which took away quite a lot from the good story which this book had.
