This is basically the story of an obsession of different individuals for different things which they cannot have in life. Firstly it is Natasha who used to live on the roads in the past and it was her beauty that captivated Vladimir one day and he took her to his big mansion. Since then she has been living a life of luxury under certain rules of course.
She cannot talk about Vladimir’s business to anyone and she cannot ask questions to the man who has been keeping her in his big mansion for many years. Her duty is to keep Vladimir happy all the time and in return, she gets all that she can dream of in her life. Although she is allowed to go out in top security she is not allowed to talk to anyone and forging a relationship would be the last thing she will hope for.
After these descriptions, Danielle Steel comes to the next family i.e a mother and son who are living a peaceful life. Theo is the son of Lorenzo Luca who used to be an awesome artist. After his death, Theo and his mother transformed his art gallery of Lorenzo into a restaurant but the walls are still decorated with the paintings of that awesome artist. It is the way of keeping Lorenzo in the memories all the time.
When Natasha enters the restaurant, Theo looks at her with extreme love in his eyes and it is clear that he wants to have her. While Vladimir who was with Natasha was amazed to see the artwork on the walls and he was quite sad to know that it was not for sale. Thus Alexander Cendese narrates the characters of two men who have a desire for the impossible. Without a Trace possesses suspicious characters and The Whittiers is a bit different in approach. However, we can say that these two books are equal in quality and length as compared to this book.
