Stephanie Plum has a long list of personal problems to deal with and the first and most important one for her is the money problem. She has taken on many risky cases for the sake of money and she has been lucky enough to survive those missions. It is Gobbles i.e the zookeeper of Zeta Fraternity who has committed a strange kind of crime in this story. The man had issues with the dean of Kittman College so he decided to beat him up. Now the police want to take him to the court but he is nowhere to be found.
The students of the college have a hunch that Gobbles is hiding somewhere near but they are not interested in giving the police a hint. Till this portion, the story resembles One for the Money and Explosive Eighteen but the murder and big crimes scenes come later in this part.
Janet Evanovich always keeps the real thing for later use. Linken was given police protection after the incident and later in the story, he is found dead in his backyard. A police cop Joe Morelli and the guard who was protecting Linken join forces to find the real criminal.
Stephanie could have stayed away from the case but she decides to step in because it could help her monetarily. Thus Stephanie starts hunting for clues and she wants to get the job done before anyone else. Lorelei King has kept the same eager voice for the narration of Stephanie’s character because it suits her character. She is eager, and aggressive and is in desperate need of money to keep shelter on her head and food in her belly.
