Suspense and big family drama are at hand when you have this book written by Sandra Brown placed right in front of you. This is a novel in which realities will come to the surface later in the story and you might not be able to guess many things from the initial chapters. Sayre Lynch thought that she might never come to her hometown again in her life because she didn’t want to get mixed in the family business.
Also sharing the family name was not something she was very proud of. Her father happens to be the owner of the only industry in the area and it is he who decides the fate of the people too. The elder son in the family is also quite linked to his father and together the two have been ruling the area for decades now.
Sayre finally returns to the area not because of her father or elder brother but because of the fact that her younger brother commits suicide and she had to attend the funeral. She wanted to get out of the place after the end of the funeral but there are certain happenings that stop her. Beck Merchant is one of the reasons because of why Sayre decides to stay for a while and then she gets to know certain things about her late brother.
At first, the narrator Victor Slezak starts slowly and then he speeds up when the case opens eventually. Two Alone and Overkill are not that much quicker in the storyline but the suspense just keeps on dominating everything in these stories. There is a lot that the listener has to keep in mind if he wants to understand the story fully.
