George R.R. Martin has kept on writing, one book and then the other on the virus known as the Wild Card. The Wild Card was the virus that was introduced in the first part of this series. It was the type of virus that affected every human being differently. For some, it was like a blessing as it provided them with powers that they had never imagined and for others, it was like a disease that just ate everything up.
Those who lost everything were the “Jokers” while the “Aces” achieved new heights because of the virus. All of it started back in 1946 and those who remained afterward started celebrating the day when the Wild Card spread in the world. Every year the celebrations just kept on increasing because the survivors were getting more and more powerful all the time.
Pam Grier, Molly Quinn, Ray Porter, and Stephen McHattie have narrated the first portion of the story quickly so that more time could be given to the next half. The author takes us forty years ahead very quickly where the celebrations have reached their peak. Here a mad man is once again planning something very seriously. If he succeeds then the entire world would be thrown into chaos once again.
A Dance with Dragons and A Feast for Crows is equally matched to this book in terms of action. At this stage in the series, the story starts unfolding in a new way which makes it more interesting for the listeners. So when you are starting this particular book then you should keep your mind prepared for big changes.
